Simon Richmond has been releasing records, composing, producing, remixing and performing live since the early 1990s.Under the artist name Palm Skin Productions, Simon’s first releases were on James Lavelle's seminal Mo' Wax label, going on to release albums on Virgin(Hut) and Howie B's eclectic Pussyfoot label, along with an extensive catalogue of releases on a wide range of labels.
As a producer, Simon has written, produced, programmed and played live forartists such as Neneh Cherry, REM, Gabrielle, Youssou N'Dor, The Imagined Village, David McAlmont, John Metcalfe among many others. As a production team working with the late Johnny Dollar, Simon worked with Pulp, Sarah McGlaughin, Ute Lemper among many others. He has written and produced for million selling Japanese singer Ua. He has also produced, composed extensively for Lush Cosmetics’ Spa Treatments. As a DJ and remixer Simon has played in just about every part of the world, with performances such as supporting The Art of Noise, outdoor DJ sets on Bondai Beach and touring Japan, Australia and the UK with legendary turntablists DJ Krush and DJ Shadow.
As a live musician and collaborator, Simon has played percussion, keyboards and turntables for many live acts, including Neneh Cherry, The John Metcalfe band, Earl Zinger, The K-Creative, Jessica Lauren, ambient band Ayota, electro band 2020 Soundsystem, Afro Celt Sound System, Dot Rotten, Joel Compass and is a member of folk supergroup The Imagined Village, featuring Martin and Eliza Carthy, with whom he has also performed and collaborated.
